Look, loan officer was great, underwriter, not so much. Contradicting issues, I know they’re given strict guidelines but at same time I know interpretationsh differ. So telling me it’s needed ain’t quite true. You need proof of income, not necessarily my name on bank accounts, etc. the fact that I had to add my name to accounts that I didn’t want my name on pisses me off to no end.
Response from Veterans United
Hello Robert,
I really appreciate you calling this out, and I’m sorry the underwriting process left you feeling frustrated—especially when it came to the documentation requests and how they were explained. I can understand how being asked to change something as personal as your financial accounts would feel like too much, and it’s frustrating when guidelines feel like they’re being interpreted in ways that don’t quite add up.
It’s great to hear your loan officer was supportive, but I’d really like for my advocate team to take a closer look at what went on with the rest of your experience. If you're open to talking more about it, you can reach me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re here from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but feel free to reach out whenever it’s convenient for you.

Could not be happier with the end results! outstanding team! Great service!

Mike and his team did a great job keeping everyone informed every step of the transaction.

Everyone was great and communicated well!

Overall, a 10! The only thing I would suggest is to make sure that the final closing documents are finalized before the moment of closing! That was extremely annoying! Show up expecting to pay one thing and all of the sudden; nope you must pay this! Also, please fix the issue about having to constantly having to get the DocuSign reset. Every time my Loan team would send me something it would say that my session had timed out and to reverify. Well there is no place or link to do that!

It was my first time buying a home and I feel like I hit the lottery in choosing Veterans United! Made the entire experience super simple! We don't plan on ever having to purchase another home but I would definitely recommend Veterans United to anyone else interested in purchasing a home. Thanks to everyone who made our dream come true! Charlie, Amy, and Shanon were exceptional!

This was the second home that I worked with Veteran's United to buy, and just like the first time a few years ago...they were awesome. Attentive, knowledgeable, and organized. Really a pleasure to work with.

The process David performed was smooth and speedy. All we did was locate the house we wanted and VA did the rest.

I highly recommend Veterans United to any veteran considering the use of their VA loan benefits. My engagement with them spanned over 18 months—a period in which they demonstrated a consistent, values-driven approach aligned with several key Lominger competencies. From the outset, the team displayed Customer Focus and Interpersonal Savvy, staying in touch with me every few months—not to push, but to check in with empathy and patience. Their respectful outreach reflected emotional intelligence and an understanding of the veteran mindset. It was clear they weren’t chasing a transaction, but building a relationship.Emily’s Organizational Agility and Priority Setting were clear strengths. She ensured the right steps were executed at the right time, avoiding unnecessary delays. In summary, Veterans United doesn’t just provide a service—they deliver a veteran-centric experience anchored in trust, professionalism, and competency. If you’re a veteran exploring your options, I encourage you to engage with them. You’ll be in capable hands.

Aaron is awesome to work with, went the extra mile to make sure we got closed on our new home!!

Veterans United makes the exhaustive process of buying a home easy and painless. 10/10 recommend for veterans looking to purchase a home using the VA home loan

Our loan officer, Matt Istwan, was awesome. He went over & beyond all expectations we had. Matt was always professional, courteous, and knowledgeable during the entire process. I can't thank Matt enough for his help with financing our home, he made such a difference during a very stressful home search.

We recently purchased our dream home, and I can say without hesitation that working with Colin and his team at Veterans United was one of the best decisions we made as we started the home-buying process. Colin was our Loan Officer, and from start to finish, he and his team were exceptionally courteous, transparent, and responsive—always just a call or message away anytime we had a question. We had braced ourselves for the nightmare scenarios we’d heard from friends about working with other lenders, but our experience was the complete opposite—a dream transaction from start to finish. From the moment we submitted our offer to the day we closed took just 32 days—and the only reason it wasn't faster was because the sellers were out of town the weekend we submitted our offer! We’ve already been telling all of our fellow veterans, family, and friends about the outstanding service we received, and we’ll continue to recommend Veterans United to anyone looking to buy or refinance. Colin and his team made our forever home a reality, and we will be forever grateful for their expertise, support, and genuine care throughout the entire process.Thank you, Colin and Veterans United—you made our dream come true!

This team made this process so easy. They answered all my questions fast and gave me great advice.

Our VU team was awesome- beyond the outstanding rating of 10. Rob Dycus and Erin Craig were both quick to respond to our questions and kept us informed regarding the loan process and on what was needed during each step along the way. Rob especially exceeded our expectations. He was extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with.

I never had a single question answered by my "team." I was promised calls back with a single question I had but never received it.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Brandon,
I’m really sorry to hear you felt ignored during such an important time. You should never have to chase down answers—especially when all you needed was one question answered. That kind of experience can make the whole process feel isolating, and that’s the opposite of what we aim for.
I’d really like to understand what happened and make sure your feedback is heard by the right folks here. If you’re willing, please reach out to my advocate team at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re in the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but feel free to reach out anytime and I’ll make sure we follow up as soon as possible.
