Smooth process for a first home buyer but there were some small bumps in the road. However with the help of a good realtor and online support staff everything ended out great & in a timely manner on their end.


There should possibly be changes considered to how you connect homeowners with real estate teams- Shelby was phenomenal for us because she was a good fit for our needs. The first agent I am sure was phenomenal for someone but was definitely a poor fit from us- and at first when I tried to politely say this you all encouraged she stay with us. Instead of calling me- you called her- makes no sense. Talk to YOUR CUSTOMERS- FULLY understand their needs- then ACT...it would fix so much. Again, using Shelby (our second realtor we connected with) was amazing but only because I advocated and didn’t just say “okay.”Please give Jordan Roach all of our praise- she’s the kind of rockstar that has kept us using VU.Unfortunately I don’t know that we will ever return to VU, and I surely will not recommend VU after this past transaction. It’s been disappointing to say the least.

Loan origination fees are high!

Hi William, The origination fee is our flat 1 percent fee covers the lender’s (our) costs associated with originating, processing, and underwriting the loan. On a $200,000 VA loan, this fee would be $2,000. If the we are charging the 1 percent fee, we are not allowed to tack on additional charges for things the VA considers overhead. While using this flat fee is common, other lenders can also choose to take a more piecemeal approach. And if they do that, VA buyers can wind up paying costs and fees that would otherwise be unallowable. We encourage people to shop around with several lenders to find the best deal for them!
