Veterans United is difficult to reach by phone. I've called several times during normal business hour and have seemingly been sent to voicemail every time. Underwriting was overly thorough. My credit score is over 800, and they kept probing for additional info. I even had to get on a conference call with VU and American Express so that they could get my account details for a credit card. I wasn't able to move the closing date up from their initial proposed date. At closing, Veterans United failed to provide the required documentation in a timely manner. My first payment is due in 23 days, and I've yet to receive a bill.

I never thought I'd be able to buy my own home with my past credit issues, but the specialists at Veterans United got me prequalified, financed, and closed. So I'll NEVER have to face annual rent raises again, and my house payment is $150.00 cheaper than my rent was! If you're renting, and a veteran,I would highly recommend Veterans United!

Around the holidays the works are not always correct. They can be out of office before the time they schedule to close so be aware it’s not always true.

Ted Richardson, Crystaline and Mike Butrum were outstanding, i was tough to work with and wanted to give up at the end and they kept pressing forward. I will miss the everyday update phone calls with all of them, i feel they were part of my everyday life for the past 4 months, I wil miss them.
Pay attention to your Home Mortgage Team and don’t be afraid to express concerns when things aren’t going well. Switch early, if you can. My mortgage professional literally stated something to the effect that he wouldn’t allow me to delay my appraisal payment because I wouldn’t be given an opportunity to take food from his family’s mouth. I was floored by the mere gall and insinuation. My Realtor was the only glimmer of hope that I had in the process. Otherwise, this was a horrible experience!
