Things got off to a great start communication was great on both sides and the loan process simingly was going great. Then at the last two weeks of closing we ran into problems. There was a misunderstanding that we would be locked into a rate that would not exceed that of 3.75 % . Come to find out that we were not locked in as we thought and had to lock in at a higher interest rate of 4.0%, which over the course of the 30 year repayment plan will be a substantial amount of money. Our loan office did try to make it better by giving us a Loan credit of $1,500.00 Due to this misunderstanding (that was on paperwork for the interest rate,) I would not recommend Veterans United without having to go into detail of my experience with your company.
When it came to closing time loan officer was no where to be found and his assistant was incompetent. Had good service in beginning of loan but when it was really important he was not available. Got figures for closing 30 minutes before close
Roger Modde was fantastic! Thorough, reassuring, diligent and 100% on top of the entire process. The improvement I would make revolves around the error that was made at closing where the processor (or whoever it was) didn't give me the Homestead credit, which suddenly bumped up the amount of my monthly payment and the amount I had to show up at closing with. Had I not asked a lot of questions, this would have stayed in there. Not sure who was in charge of that, but it could have caused a lot of financial hardship for us.
