All in all the experience was a good one working with Veterans United. I like that they specialize in working with Veterans and some of the challenges that can bring.
However, While looking for movers I found Bronze Star moving from the Veterans United website and they turned out to be a scam. They turned out to be just a broker and not an actual moving company that does state to state moves. They may do local moves but they didn’t explain that when I reserved them. They didn’t communicate and left us scrambling the day we were supposed to be out of the house. Having to rent a Uhaul and load it and tow my car set our move back a day leading to extra costs in hotel fees, gas, exhaustion, stress and they wouldn’t refund my $2700.00! That hurt us tremendously. Then when we arrived at the new house the fridge had leaked water all over the wood flooring damaging it. The wood is bowed now and we had water bugs in the house because of the standing water in the kitchen. The previous owners said they were taking the fridge and washer & dryer but ended up leaving them but again did not communicate that to us. They even made a point of telling us repeatedly that we would have to buy a fridge and a washer and dryer because they were taking them. Now I have to have someone haul these appliances away because they are super gross and dirty. Also, there is water damage behind the dishwasher and now I have water damage to the wood flooring in the kitchen.
Bronze Star moving brokered our move to Good move USA which was just a guy in a very beat up white box truck. He never gave us his name, was very unprofessional and was calling us derogatory names whenever we left the room and he thought we couldn’t hear him. Good move USA also kept increasing the cost of the move then had all these demands that were ridiculous. He said he could not take anything that wasn’t in a large size box. So even small boxes or tool boxes had to be boxed in large boxes which of course cost more money. They were supposed to bring 2 TV boxes as well but they did not. There was no type of partition in the truck to divide our stuff from other families belongings. Very unprofessional and rude. They showed up hours late on the very last day in the house then wanted all those changes and increased the price by thousands if we wanted to move all of our belongings so we had to cancel and move via uhaul.
The entire team was phenomenal, always attentive and quick to answer any questions I had along the way. My realtor and my closing attorney both sing praises about this team. They said they’ve had some not so good experiences with VU in the past and this restored their faith in VU. They were very happy to work with y’all. My only complaint was the ADT representative that reached out to me on VU behalf, I believe his name was Nate. He was extremely pushy. Other than that I’m very happy that I chose to do business with VU. Thank you for everything!!
