I have already given Veterans United phone number out to 3 veterans I know, as far as I know they have made contact and were instucted when to recontact to start the process, they have to be out of service and in a new job for a year.

I have been an active duty service member for almost 30 years and am preparing to retire from the service and transition into civilian life. I have moved all over the United States, including Alaska and have never had "geographical stability" and therefore never purchased a home because moving every 3 to 4 years is stressful enough without adding the additional burden of selling a home. So after all these years and finally ready to settle down with my family we prepared to utilize our VA loan certificate and purchase a house. without hesitation I called my "military friendly" bank and spoke to a loan officer, he stated that because I was retiring in less than 12 months I could not use my VA certificate to purchase, the entire conversation lasted less that 5 minutes. keep in mind I have banked with this company for many years, have made several auto loans with them as well as carry my auto and renters insurance with them. in addition I have excellent credit and am a senior enlisted member in my branch of service. I called Veteran United and it was smooth sailing from the first phone call with Kris Maple to the last phone call with Jonathan Lucas , and I am writing this email from the comfort of our new home. I will recommend Veterans United to every service member that I can.
Chris Holdman needs to learn better customer service skills and put them to use. If a veteran is calling him for assistance for documentation that he or his loan team tells the veteran to obtain then he needs to be a LOT more open minded and helpful in helping the veteran obtain that said information. The real estate agent (for us and the sellers), VUHL, and some of the other parties made this whole process challenging. Dawn Plank was the only true bright spot for VUHL outside of the administrative staff who answered and forwarded phone calls. It is hard for me, looking back at my experience, to find much positive to say about this experience. This is my 2nd home purchase and I have to say that this purchase was much more difficult than the first. Not all of the fault was VUHL's but it was certainly a part of the problem.
Joel Gigler was very professional, personable, and extremely helpful. From my initial call to Veterans United about doing a VA Streamline Re-finance on our mortgage, Joel won our confidence in his knowledge. Throughout the process, he was always available to answer our questions and diligently helped us navigate the required paperwork. We greatly appreciated his time and patience. The whole process, from start to finish, was so simple and enjoyable.
