VU was extremely helpful during the whole process and was extremely understanding with complicated military related issues that came up. Would 100% recommend especially for first time homebuyers.

My name is Justin Truman (Retired Veteran). This was my first time purchasing a home, and I used my VA home loan to do so. I didn’t know what to expect and was a bit intimidated—until I called Eric Johnson at Veterans United.
I looked it up online: Veterans United is the #1 Veterans Home Loan Lender in the world, and that’s for a good reason. I had searched far and wide for a lender who could offer the greatest loan amount, and as it turns out, it’s Veterans United! My credit score was around 640–660, and Veterans United approved me for up to $300,000. I was even told to contact Eric if I needed more. 😂
I found a home for $200,000, and Eric locked me in at 6.5%, which is amazing considering my last bankruptcy and credit history. He was always in contact with me, and if he was on the phone, he would always call me back. I could literally go to war for this dude—his service and professionalism are what I call next level.
His team even got together and went shopping for me for a housewarming present. The fact is, I expected the home-buying experience to be hectic, stressful, and overwhelming. Turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Eric even provided me with a checklist (with links) throughout the entire process.
It was literally one of the best experiences of my entire life. I haven’t been this happy since my child was born—and that’s a fact. This man treated me as if I were his own son.
If you are a veteran who qualifies for a VA home loan, it would behoove you to contact Eric. And when you do, tell him I said hello.

John, Joshua, Kylie and everybody at VU were exceptional in customer service. Highly recommend VU and especially this team!

Kyle was the person charged with helping us and wouldn't answer my calls. When he did he would try and make excuses as to why we went back to underwriting or why certain amounts were on the closing disclosure. He is either unedjucated in his current position or too scared to take his position serious and represent me and get answers from other departments. This isnt my first va loan and this was the worst experience i've ever had. My realestate agent and my self and atorney had came up with a perfect plan to remedy the plumbing and water damage repair costs and situation. But Kyle instead sent us back to underwriting for an escrow hold which underwriting ended up denying and later Kyle ended up passing us off to uper management who went with our original plan. This wasted costed us significant out of pocket cost that we werent prepaired for. As well as wasted everyones time. Closing was pushed back and costed us our payout at closing to significantly decrease and be applied to interest on a property i didn't even step foot into yet.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Cameron,
I’m really sorry to hear this VA loan experience was so difficult, especially since you’ve been through the process before and knew what to expect. I can understand how upsetting it must have been to face delays, confusion about underwriting decisions, and unexpected costs that caught you off guard. It sounds like you, your realtor, and your attorney put in a lot of effort to create a plan to handle the repair costs, and I regret that it wasn’t followed at first. I know that back-and-forth only added to the stress, pushed your closing back, and left you with added financial strain at a time when you should have been focused on settling into your new home. Closing on a home should feel like a positive milestone, not a burden, and I’m sorry that wasn’t your experience here. Professional, kind, helpful, and top-notch in my book.

Even through some adversity, the team at Veterans United never rested until this deal was finalized! Great job to everyone involved!

Kim Ahrens and the entire team were very helpful and answered all of our questions every step of the way.

Reed and his team have been outstanding! I am not often available to take on the phone and they were comprisable! They emailed and updated the MyVU app as often as possible, making me feel aware of the process at all times. They even sent the most precious, personal, thoughtful welcome home box!!

Seth, Curtis, and the team at Veterans United were always on top of things. Communication was quick, easy, effective, and efficient. Easiest home loan process that I've been through.

Our experience with Veterans United exceeded expectations. The entire team was so friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and efficient throughout the home-buying process. They made what could have been a stressful experience smooth and seamless, and we are truly grateful for their support in helping close on our home so fast. We would recommend them to anyone at any time. 👍

Very professional during the complete process.

I couldn't be any happier than I am. They made the process so easy, I barely had questions about it. Having an account on their site was simple and clear on what documents I needed. There was continuous communication via phone, texting and email and no issues of not reaching them. The only tough part was just finding that right one house especially for me!

Aaron went well above to help us get our home. He got it all done within 20 days. He worked hard for us and we really appreciate everything he did. He deserves to be a top loan representative with United Veterans.

My experience with the team assigned to me was outstanding. They were there every step of the way.

Absolutely I would recommend this team of professionals. First time, I’ve been treated like my time in the military mattered.
I will forever be grateful for all the efforts that went into this moment, I’m currently living right now.
Nearly in tears as I spend the first night in my house and watch my daughter run around. God bless Veterans United.
