My parents couldn’t never afford to own a house and here I am in my living room. My living room! Growing up in apartments and moving every few year and now I have a house. Stable house that I own. Words can’t describe how good this feel. The team have been awesome and even with the Covid crisis going on they didn’t miss a beat. I want to thank the team that pushed this through so we could close before it cost us more.
Overall, VU was very communicative. The user interface when logging in was helpful for helping me see the whole team and understanding who I was getting all of my calls and emails from. Everyone was helpful and I could understand how their roles differed when it came to helping me with one thing vs. another. Seems like a well-oiled machine!
Another great experience with VU. Kody Gilbow stayed on top of the whole process and was available to answer all of the questions I posed to him. If I ever move again It will be with VU.
Closed 2 weeks late. Most documents sat in limbo. Communication from underwriting, the loan coordinator and anyone in between was terrible. No updates unless we reached out to them. It took weeks for documents to show up because both seller and buyer agents and our loan team were not in constant communication until after the closing date. This process costs me thousands of dollars while I had to afford temporary living because of the very late closing date. This was the worst home buying experience I've ever had.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Donavan,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm sorry to hear about the delays and communication issues you experienced throughout your homebuying process.
I understand how frustrating it must have been to wait for updates, feel like documents were stalled, and experience a closing that occurred weeks later than expected. When a delay affects moving plans and creates additional living expenses, it can add significant stress to an already important milestone. I'm sorry that this experience left you feeling disappointed and unsupported.
I'd like the opportunity to learn more about what happened and review your concerns. Please contact me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. The Client Advocate team is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and messages received outside those hours are typically returned the next business day.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Quick steady and easy.
Really nice people
Everyone has been incredibly helpful and polite, and the whole experience went smoother than butter. I was skeptical about the company at first because they asked for some personal information in order to receive a quote, so I naturally gave some bogus answers just to fill in the required slots. Our loan officer called us, and between him and his team, our minds were put at ease. We went from living on a pretend street called "Nunya Business" to closing on our first home. When my husband's orders were put on hold due to SARS-CoV-2, the company was with us every step of the way to make sure we were doing okay. They knew between the limbo with PCS orders and me still working as a nurse, our family was under a bit of stress (as are most others around the world). They sent our family board games to keep us entertained and connected while we were at home as the world went crazy around us. The entire experience has been great, and the team was with us every single step of the way. Veteran's United even supported our decision to get quotes from other lenders as well. After feeling like "just a number" with NFCU, we stuck with Veteran's United because it felt like we were being taken care of like family. If you're on the fence, don't be. Veteran's United is amazing, and we don't regret our decision even for a second!
Glenn's expertise and guidance from the very first phone call through the day we received the keys to our first home was exceptional. We can't recommend enough!
Veterans United made my first time going through the home buying process so much easier than I expected. 10/10

I had a fantastic experience working with the team at Veterans United. I want to start by thanking Garrick Stoker, who was instrumental in getting my pre-approval and was always patient and helpful in running numbers whenever I asked. I also want to thank Scott for his consistent guidance throughout the process. A huge thank you to Bailey and Nicole as well—the team communicated so well and handled the transition of my documents seamlessly. Everyone was incredibly helpful, walked me through my Closing Disclosure clearly, and made the funding process a breeze. Their professionalism made my home-buying process much less stressful. I highly recommend them!
This is the third home I’ve purchase with Veterans United. It was just as easy the third time as it was the first time. My realtor and the titling company also raved about how easy it was to work with Jodi and the Veterans United team.
I never felt “out of the loop” during the whole process. Made things easy.
Once again the Veterans United team came through. had a couple of communication challenges; however we got our joint heads together and figured out what was the best way to proceed. Great team to work with and kept us on top of each item , and answered any questions we had to make the total process easy and understandable. Thanks again. We are excited to be in our new home.
