My loan officer, Kevin Schawo, made the approval and borrowing process a great experience. I always knew he had my best interests as a priority. In the 10 months from my pre-approval until construction was completed on our new home, I feel like I’ve made a new friend.
Kudos to Kevin and his team (Ashley Clausen left no stones unturned). You’re the best!

Overall the experience was good Holly and Brittany were amazing with answering questions. If I’m going to be honest there were a few things we had asked Matt about that were overlooked such as needing a water test with our home inspection And what certain closing costs were so we could make sure we had the proper amount at closing. It ended up okay in the end and they credited us for the water test. But being a first time home buyer and not know the direction we’re supposed to go in you definitely rely on the lender to answer anything your unsure about. That’s not to say I wouldn’t recommend veterans united to others they definitely are a great team of people and everyone is human, however, I feel like my personal experience wasn’t as great as others who had recommended them to me.
A little over four years ago, my parents purchased the home thru Veterans United…due to my dad’s visual impairment, I had to help him thru the process at that time and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience then…my mom passed away in June of this year and my dad moved into assisted living last month, so my husband and I decided to purchase the home from my dad so he could use the proceeds to help cover the cost of his continued care in assisted living…once again, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience…Derek Harmon was more than just lender…during this emotionally challenging transition in our lives, with regular “check-ins” just to see how we were doing, making himself available to answer my (many, MANY) questions, whether they were applicable to his particular role or not and/or pointing me in the right direction for those he wasn’t able to answer…he was a “lifeline” for me throughout the entire process!
Cindy was amazing she got us through on the last few days it looked like we weren't going to close but she made it happen!
The process of buying a home is always stressful but I have purchased 2 homes with Sydney as my loan officer and I cannot say enough about how great she is. She made everything 10 times easier and made closing on our new home possible.
