The whole team of Steve Mackenzie and Holly. We're excellent

Little to no contact. Confusing process. Changing requirements.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Robert,
I’m really sorry to hear that communication felt lacking and the process came across as confusing. That’s not the experience we aim to provide—especially when navigating something as important as a home loan. If requirements were changing without clear explanation, I can only imagine how frustrating that must’ve been.
I'd really like for my team to have the chance to dig into what happened so we can learn from it and do better moving forward. When you're ready, our Client Advocate team is here to listen. You can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re in the office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, but please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime.
I am so grateful for Veterans United, I had actually been denied from a mortgage from my bank the day before and was really just taking one last chance with Veterans United. I seriously had a pre approval letter within 15 minutes of getting on the website and I immediately put the offer in on my house! Dean called me that evening and we talked a little about my finances, he was super easy to talk to and made me really relax and feel confident going forward. Then I downloaded the app and it was actually fun for me to complete the tasks as they would come in, I got a real sense of satisfaction from that! The process is unbelievably easy through Veterans United, they have it so streamlined and they really are available 24/7 for ANYTHING, even after you close, for the entirety of the mortgage! I wish I had another house to buy honestly I can't say enough good things. Thank you all so much, you made me feel so secure through the loan process and going forward with my mortgage I feel like there is an open door for anything at any time.

Thank you veterans united!! Ted is the greatest! He helped us find Shannon, as a team they got us through the maze of finding a home , help us get financed and into a great home that is within our budget and meets our needs. This has been a long hard road for us but Ted and Shannon stuck with us and helped us through everything. You all are great and thanks again. Shannon you are the best, Ted you are the greatest.

I was not prepared properly for closing. The ability to buy down points for a lower interest rate was never mentioned by the mortgage team. First time homebuyers need to be informed of all possible options for financing the loan prior to closing.
Response from Veterans United
Hey Stephenie,
I’m really sorry to hear this. First-time homebuyers put a lot of trust in us to guide them through every step, and it sounds like we didn’t fully deliver on that. Buying a home is a huge milestone, and you deserve to feel informed and confident—especially when it comes to important options like buying down points.
I’d really like our advocate team to learn more about what happened here so we can take a closer look. If you're open to it, would you mind reaching out to us? We’d love the chance to listen and see what we can do moving forward.

The only real trouble I had was the closing. I was supposed to close on Friday May 16th and was unable to do so. Someone dropped the ball and I don't know for sure who it was, but I think it may have been the title company. Then again, on the follow up closing date, probably the title company again, did not advise me that my wife had to be at the closing. My wife had already signed some documents online so I thought she was done with her part. Luckily, I called my wife at work and told her to come home right away and she was able to do so, thankfully, and we closed. I was not a happy camper that morning. I would suggest for future reference, even though I know that it's not the responsibility of the finance guys, but, I would just have them keep an eye out for married couples and remind them that they need to be at the closing table together. Just a suggestion.

We would recommend Nichole and would be happy to work with her again in the future

The entire team did a fantastic job from beginning to end, our Buyer’s Agent, my wife and I were all so pleased with our first Home buying experience!

Great communication and very accommodating!

Adam has been my loan officer on three homes. Outstanding each time.
