I was going through a divorce and trying to find a way forward for my daughter and I when my mom suggested I buy a house rather than rent. I hadn't considered that option, but thanks to the VA and Veterans United helping me navigate the red tape we were able to buy a great little house in a great diverse neighborhood. Our loan coordinator, Neil Hansen, walked with us every step of the way. He was an informative problem solver who coordinated with a whole team behind the scenes to accomplish the mission. Our realtor, Dan Reynolds, is a great guy and an incredible realtor. His expertise and experience continually steered us in the right direction until we found the right place. The process was a great experience and I am happy I was able to go through it with such professional staff.
Some of the team we worked with we appreciated. However, on the whole, our home buying experience was not smooth.
1) Failure to find an agent in the area we requested.
2) When we gave them a new address, it took a long time to get the correct offer letter.
3) We told them multiple times we wanted to put money down on our new home. They kept the loan amount the same. This felt like a dishonest practice that they were trying to make money off us with a higher loan amount. Versus putting money on our home and taking a lower loan amount. We communicated this desire multiple times and it was not heard or adjusted. When we finally made it to our closing date, the wrong loan amount was on all our documents and delayed our closing.
I would highly recommend Veteran's United to all other veterans for a mortgage. Everyone in my team was diligent and worked hard to ensure my wife and I could get our home as quickly and efficiently as possible. They will explain things to you in a way that will be easy to understand.
