The entire team that guided me through the refinance process exceeded my every expectation. Cory Bruns did a superior job with my pre-qualification interview. Ryan Peterson was there with an answer to every question I had throughout the process. Matt Istwan explained the final elements of the mortgage so that I was completely prepared at the close. Stay away from VU. I will ask my friends and family to stay away from Veterans United.Few issues:i) VU loan officer gave me the wrong information regarding the VA Jumbo loan and county limits. 2 weeks before the closing, they gave me new information. Either incompetence or shady practice.ii) This loan team was horrible at communicating. We checked in a week before closing if everything was good. The loan team said they didn't receive title documents from the title company. It took one phone call and 5 minutes to send documents over. The loan team did not reach out to me/my real estate agent/title company for missing title papers before that. VU loan team said they might not be able to close the loan on time just because of that.

This is my second time working with Veterans United to obtain a home loan. The first experience was 5 years ago when my husband and I applied for a VA loan to purchase a primary residence. The process was seamless and smooth, and our Loan Officer was always available to respond to any questions or concerns we had. Nothing untoward or unexpected occurred during the loan process, which is how a loan application should be!This time, I was applying for a cash-out refinance loan, and my Loan Officer during this process worked with me in a timely manner to ensure a good closing. We experienced a glitch in the middle of this period: a very unethical Appraiser stalled on providing the report when she said she would - and not 1, but 4 times! She set deadlines, then failed to produce; but ultimately our Loan Officer involved VU's Client Advocate Department, who was quick to deal with the appraisal management company to get the Appraisal completed. So, although the process took 2 weeks longer than expected, this was in no way the fault of Veterans United, which acted throughout in a highly ethical, professional, and gracious manner towards me. I would definitely recommend them if you are searching for a reputable home loan company.

Very rushed experience, not my way of handling it and not how I've done it in the past. Be prepared to talk with multiple people about the same thing cause communication within is terrible.
