VU actually has a system that works! From the people to the website its all very friendly and easy and transparent. Highly unusual in todays world where companies don’t want to interact personally, VU welcomes you to the process.

I would say to other potential Veteran homebuyers that my experience with Veteran United was absolutely better than I expected. Most of the filling was done electronically because of COVID19, but it was formatted easy enough that I had no problems sending the documents needed to get my home loan. I got my home loan and closed on my new home in about 7 weeks. that is amazing!

So, how do I say this was one of the worst things I have ever done and convey my true feelings. Lets start with the realtor. She is a nice lady and worked a lot of crazy hours to get us the house. Since we were stuck in Illinois I couldn't come down to see the house. We set up zoom meetings and Margret walked us through. Since it was all remote you don't get a chance to do everything. Like the smell that is infused in this house. It smells of old dog, mud and compost. I don't know how she didn't smell it. Then there is the DIY bathroom. I can't begin to tell you how wrong it is. She should have seen it and knew something was up with the faucet. Then there is the home inspection guy who we paid. He took a picture of it (there is a bath scrubby covering up one of the problems) He had to have moved the scrubby to run water into the tub. There is two pages of pictures of plants that are "too close to the house" and one tiny section about loose brick. Bullshit the whole dam poach has come away from the house and is falling apart. The previous tenants treated this house like rental property. They did the absolute bare minimum to fix anything, with the cheapest materials possible. The carpet in the living room; I thought it was a solid brown color, its not it's actually pretty with colors, dimensions, and patters of white and tan. It's brown because that's how much mud was in the carpet. My wife spent 3 days and a broken steam cleaner later still couldn't get the carpet clean. The rented rug doctor was still pulling up water out of the carpet the color of coffee.
You guys already have the list of stuff that was wrong identified by the inspector. Let me add to that.
Broken oven vent. Because it was broke all of the cabinets above the stove had a thick tar coating of grease. The burners on top of the oven worked, but the oven it self didn't work. We filled the kitchen with gas, luckily that's all that happened. (it has since been replaced) There was mud in one of the lower cabinets, because a child or dog crawled into it with muddy paws, it was left for us to take care of. The dish washer had mold growing on the inside, and doesn't work right. The little door that holds the soap won't open. The sink leaked and damaged the plywood floor under it. The sliding glass door was broke (I fixed it) but the screen door is nowhere to be seen. The master bathroom vent is broke and requires replacing. The gas line to the downstairs fireplace was never sealed off. I have no idea if it still works it's just disconnected. None of the smoke alarms work at all. Some electrical sockets are squishy and just push into the wall. One of the down stairs rooms has a door that is just punched full of holes. It was covered up by hand drawn pictures a kid taped all over it. The other room has florescent lights that look like they were improperly hung. There is extensive water damage in the down stairs bathroom. I had to fish toys out of the sump pump. There is random wires hanging from the ceiling in the garage. They have electrical tape on one wire. I pray to God they are not live. However, the attic ladder is broke so I can't crawl up to check, nor fix the vent in master bathroom. The fence in the back yard needs to be replaced the only thing keeping it up in some sections are the trees and bushes. Forget about the gates they just fall off and the wood is so rotten you can't fix them. The gutters were filled with so much mud and decomposing debris that there were trees growing out of it. Because of the problem with the gutters. I found one spot that was not properly sealed when the roof or siding was done. The entire wall is destroyed from water damage. I mean the whole wall in the living room is nothing but mush. As a load bearing wall it will cost thousands to fix it. It would have been such a simple fix, if they had done it right the first time.
I don't know what to say but the house isn't worth the amount of money we paid for it. I get it, it's like buying a used car, but NOT when you pay for a full inspection prior to buying it. I left the military because the stress was taking a toll on my body, but this is almost as bad. At least I'm not being shot at. I pray for the previous tenants, because it was them that I spent so many years in the military protecting. I really hope it wasn't for nothing.
