My husband who is the Veteran and I just completed a refinance with Veterans United Home Loans and I will be completely honest about our experience with Veterans United. Our situation was unique. We were self-employed and home based. That in itself was part of a challenge and adding that we had some debt and had years ago co-signed some of our daughters student loans made our path to success rocky. But we got lucky. We got Don Smith for our Loan Officer. Don Smith is a rare individual who will go more than the extra mile for you as he did for us. We admit, we spent several months in this rocky process but I assure you it is a far smoother ride for most people because Veterans United does CARE about veterans and their families. So if you have no particular circumstances you won't find a faster, easier, more comforting company to deal with than Veterans United. But if you are like us and do have some issues to iron out, then Veterans United is one of the very few companies that will actually help you get your home or refinance. We had gone to many other companies prior to Veterans United who turned a cold shoulder to us and our unique situation so we know how special Veterans United is. All along the journey, Don Smith stayed the course with us, guiding us, teaching us, and helping us overcome hurdles and in the end we were approved and we closed one day before my birthday which was a SWEET birthday present. Getting a mortgage or a refinance is not for the weak of heart but If you want an experience with a mortgage company that leaves you HAPPY and RELIEVED in the end , call Don Smith at 1-800-814-1103 ext.2909 and tell him Patty sent you. You will see for yourself the difference that United Veterans is over most other mortgage companies.
The loan team was normally very quick to respond to my issues or questions. The realtor that they selected for me was excellent. I would recommend them to anyone.
Veterans United Jason Crone is excellent 🎉🙏
Mr. Crone is amazingly organized, focused, integrating his tools, communicating superbly, very timely, amazingly attentive. Thank God for Jason Crone.
Nick & Amanda were always quick to respond by phone or email which made this a great experience from start to finish
I never saw myself as a homeowner, until now. Veterans United helped make a dream into reality and was there to guide me day after day. Trust me when I say, don't waste your time with the companies that don't want to help you. Veterans United cares about you. You did your part serving your country. Let Veterans United help you utilize your benefits, and in a very rewarding way!

Experience first-hand why 364,881 homeowners give us a perfect score!
Other than the $20,000 closing cost on the summary, which eventually went down to $12,000 closing cost (in part because I'm a second time VA loan user), Veterans United did a really great job helping me and communicating throughout the entire process. Highly recommend Veterans United!
Veterans United made my first time buying a home a breeze. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell a home!
The only thing that could’ve been better was faster communication when it came to closing day but other than that it was painless and I was very happy with the help I received with this whole process
Doing a refinance can be quite a detailed, lengthy and sometimes taxing process, but we appreciated the attentiveness of our capable loan team helping us navigate it all. I really liked the online experience of the ‘to-do’ lists and being able to see where we were along the process. It’s great to have it finally done- Thank you all for everything!
Veterans United was an amazing lender to work with, the entire team was fantastic at communicating with us throughout the entire home buying process.
We were passed around right before closing because someone went on vacation and left us to someone else who didn’t do anything and went on maternity leave, then passed to someone else who didn’t do anything. When our initial person finally got back, they weren’t preforming on the same level before they left, so it was more waiting. Days would go by without anything being reviewed, then we’d be hit with something else “to-do.” And then another wait. It pushed our closing back and we ended up in hotels. Our closing costs were also jumping around pretty close to and up until the minute of closing (we even had to wait a few minutes to sign because they had to reprint paperwork because the numbers changed righttttt before we signed). No one could tell us how close we were to being finished with the process as well, and by hey have us a few to-dos that we had already done (paperwork was already submitted, so we had to submit it a second time... why couldn’t they just look and see that that stuff was already in there?). It started off smoothly and I thought better than the last company we used to close, but it ended up being a terrible experience as well. What’s worse is decently through the process I saw a post on Facebook about who veterans used and why, and veterans United was not getting very good reviews from anyone. One of the things being not having very good rates when compared to other loan companies, despite being “veteran friendly.” People were saying they felt taken advantage of and misled and not better informed or kept up with the process and where they were through it. But we were already stuck. We were really uhoping they(you) would be better, but it didn’t turn out that way. No way we’d use veterans United again.
My previous experience with Navy Federal Credit Union was horrific and the communication was non-existent.
Veterans United is the Gold Standard in comparison, great experience. Communication was their priority throughout ensuring that each team member was engaged and doing their part. I really like the fact that there is a specific function for each member and they communicate directly with me during that particular phase of the transaction.
