Veterans United is a great way for someone to purchase a home who doesn't have the ability for a down payment. There was a lot of paperwork and hoops, but for the service you are getting I feel as though everything balanced out. The VA has high standards for the home ypu purchase and requires that any and all work to be done on the home prior to moving in. However, because we could not afford a down payment, I didn't complain. We are very happy with our home and are very thankful to Veterans United for helping us in this new adventure.
I would definitely recommend Veterans United, its staff and affiliates, to others seeking a VA loan.
I did get a little frustrated that the loan officer (Allie) and loan specialist (Ashley) were communicating more with my realtor than with me. When things would pop up in my to do list, there wasn't a conversation with me, Ashley would let my realtor know and that doesn't make much sense to me.
Also, when there are things put in the to-do list, especially when there are a large number of items, I would reccommend that it become standard operating procedure that SOMEONE reach out to the buyer to ensure they understand what each of the items are or to ensure they don't have any additional questions.
Veterans United is amazing. As a first time home buyer the process was beyond easy. They are very transparent on what you need, what they are doing, and the timeline on when everything will be done. This whole time I expect to be nervous and stressed but it was the complete opposite. The staff that you work with is fantastic. Don't hesitate to ask questions because they will get answered. 100% recommended in your Veterans home buying needs. Thank you VU for everything!
