Everything went pretty smooth until the appraisal came back. The appraised value was higher than the purchase price. I thought this would be no issue with the underwriting considering they were only having to fund 3/4 of what the house is worth. I was definitely mistaken. Nothing could be done on Veterans United’s end to fix the appraisal. I was told they would transfer my information to any other lender that I could find to fund the loan. Essentially start all over is what I got. As a last ditch effort I called the appraiser and asked if he would adjust his appraisal to fit the policy of the underwriters. The loan would have definitely not been funded had I left it up to Veterans United. As long as you’re willing to do the footwork and be on the phone for two months fixing problems, they can get you the best rates.

Due to lending law, we are prohibited to have any contact with appraisals and inspections. This can sometimes cause delays and we sympathize with that.
