I am a first time home buyer. The entire loan application and providing supporting documents are either completed or uploaded on a user friendly VeteransUnited web portal. Joel was extremely knowledgeable. Always professional. Any questions I may have had for Joel that I struggled to articulate, he somehow understood exactly what I was asking, clarified my questions and responded with a clear answer. Never no confusion about what was going on. Joel’s team member and loan coordinator Jackie was definitely a compliment to the team with her responsiveness and all of my questions that I may have unknowingly repeated to her many times. It’s was a great experience being a first time buyer. But at the end things got a little shaky and seemed to be rushed. Things were getting done at the last minute I had to change my schedule several times due to the closing date changing. And what I had to bring to the table at closing was above what I was originally told.
Dan Hopkins and his team are awesome. Anytime I had a question, they were able to get back to me really quickly. The entire process was really simple. If there were any issues, we were always able to resolve within the same day, usually within a few hours. I also had to leave for training before we closed, and they were able to facilitate even though I was out of state. Dan and his team also put me in touch with Jonathan Robinson, my realtor, and I have to say, he is one of the best realtors I have met. We started the process before we left my last duty station, so I was a little worried about how the house hunting process was going to work. But Jonathan worked with me and my husband by doing walk-through videos for almost every house that we wanted to see. Jonathan is also very knowledgeable when it came to the little things in a house that could be an issue, but we never would have noticed.
Even though it is an intensive process, you will be glad you put your mortgage application in good hands
Prepare and have documents ready. The process is a smooth one so long as you’re prepared! Stick with this, the reward far surpasses the frustration of the home buying process.

the whole experience once we got veterans United was smooth. matt at veterand united was on top of everything, informative, compassionate, and most importantly got us into the house we needed. He even doubled checked our loan so we could save money any way we could knowing we were going to be tight, and found a way for us to not pay all the closing coats expected. The document process was the stranglehold of our experience. I got the impression that if documents didnt look exactly how a reviewer expected they were rejected. We had things kicked back not because the information wasn't all there, but because the document wasn't perfect try square. By the time docs were submitted to the satisfaction of the reviewer we were asked to obtain a new statement - before a new statement would have been issued.
It was a smooth and well organized process to get our loan. We were treated like friends and not customers.
