Underwriting takes entirely too long compared to other lending agencies. Interest rates are not competitive especially for veterans! I never was contacted by a real estate agent within the VA.

Things often got stalled in underwriting and we had no idea what the holdup was or how long it would take to resolve (we heard one issue was vacation). This was not only difficult on us but on the sellers waiting to know when escrow would close.
The process was very different but through and understandable.
