Was the smoothest home purchase I have ever made. The entire team was great to work with.
Few hiccups here and there with consistent feedback and follow up but great team and service overall
Working with Colin Park and his team at VeteransUnited was an awesome experience. After visiting many homes, my wife and I finally found the home we wanted. Colin was there throughout our whole home buying journey and made the process easy. Today I am a proud veteran home owner. I am glad I chose VeteransUnited!
Great team and very professional. I was surprised how they have the ability to make sense of all the mess and made it make sense to me. Outstanding customer service!
We cannot thank Austin F. and his amazing team at Veterans United Home Loans enough for helping our family purchase our first home. From start to finish, the professionalism, dedication, and hard work they displayed were truly outstanding.Austin and his team went above and beyond, working long hours to ensure everything stayed on track and that we fully understood every step of the process. Their knowledge and expertise helped us save money while still getting the home we truly wanted for our family. No question ever went unanswered, and they always responded with patience, honesty, and clear communication. What could have been a stressful experience turned into a smooth and exciting journey because of how easy they were to work with. We are incredibly grateful for their support, guidance, and commitment throughout this entire process. If you are looking for a loan officer and team that genuinely care about their clients, we highly recommend Austin F. and the Veterans United team.
Never felt like I had any control in this transaction. You can call and you can email but they only answer when they want to. Every time they told me they had worked something out, the confirmation came in with additional charges or an unacceptable adjustment. You will NEVER talk to anyone who can make and keep a commitment other than to do their best. Got an initial approval for up to $700k so I used the letter to make an offer with earnest money and $132k down = i needed $528k loan and was offered 5.625 with no points. OOPS! No can do G.I.. Your 1.5 million in assets don't count, just your Social Security less alimony so you can't possibly afford anything. So they "worked something out" if I could come up with an additional $34k down to make the loan for $497k. Closing disclosure (without any call or guidance) shows I also forfeited $1k credit because the loan was now below 500k and there were now 2k in points to get the 5.625 rate. At one point the loan was put on hold because "I didn't have sufficient cash to meet closing costs". That day I had $220k in an account available in 24 hours and an IRA with over 800K. I not only would not recommend these folks, I think they should be removed from processing VA loans.
Response from Veterans United
Hey Richard,
I'm sorry to hear how frustrating and disappointing this experience was for you. From your perspective, it sounds like expectations changed multiple times throughout the process, and that left you feeling like you didn't have clear answers or control over what was happening with your loan.
I can understand how upsetting it would be to make decisions based on information you believed was settled, only to later learn that additional funds, costs, or adjustments were needed. It's also concerning to hear that you felt communication was inconsistent and that your questions weren't fully addressed along the way.
While loan qualification and lending requirements can sometimes change as additional documentation is reviewed, you should still feel informed and supported throughout the process. I'm sorry that wasn't your experience.
I'd appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and review the concerns you've shared. If you're willing, please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. The Client Advocate team is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and messages received outside those hours are typically responded to the next business day.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Every member of the team was helpful every step of the way! Closing went smoothly and I was able to immediately get settled because of the teams help navigating the process of getting utilities set up and helping with any other local services needed! It’s been a whirlwind so I apologize for not sending my thanks and appreciation earlier! Also the dogs LOVED the cookies in the care package, thank you so much for thinking of them as well. Second house I’ve bought using y’all’s services and while I never want to move again, I will be using your services if I need a mortgage team in the future. Thank you for everything!!
Phenomenal and personal support. Thank you to everyone for their help!!
The VU team was awesome. During our journey to buying our first forever home ever, I did not hear any words of negativity, they only had solutions to every bump along the journey. We had an awesome flow of communication, I always knew ahead of time what to expect. Once we decided on our forever home, everything fell into place flawlessly. We are very happy and satisfied new homeowners. Thank you Veterans United!!
Professional, polite, and always there when I had any questions. I would highly recommend using Veterans United.
Kevin was fantastic and did a great job getting us through the process. He was a real pleasure to work with. 110% recommend.

Experience first-hand why 375,413 homeowners give us a perfect score!
Couldn’t be happier very responsive and was quickly done
This is now the second time I’ve used the team and they’re great to work with! Quick and efficient!
I was nervous to initially check it out, there was always an one excuse or another not to do it. My credit is not the very best but it is decent and it really has to be. Don't expect them to be able to accomplish a un realistic home loan. Be honest with Veterans United and the team assigned to you but more importantly be honest with yourself. Don't expect miracles, know your budget, be prepared, be proactive and most importantly be patient and respond to their request immediately. It's your loan after-all even though you'll feel like the team is only working on your loan, keep in mind they are also working on others and their loans but their response to your concerns are still their highest priority. Even by email which in some cases are at odd late / early morning hours. Just shows you they are definitely working on your behalf to give you their very best effort to make your loan happen. If your expectations are realistic and your honestly expecting a good experience you'll be satisfied. Unless your assigned Loan specialist team is Logan and his team then good won't be "good enough" of a rating you'll actually recieve an excellent experience. Also would like to say to you all that Logan's team includes a beautiful coordinator/specialist named Taylor working on your loan and she is a Rockstar, I give Taylor 100 stars as she is fantastic in all areas as well. If I had to do it again I'd request and not quit requesting for Logan and Taylor to be assigned to accomplish my loan package that's how great they are.
Logan and team made me the happiest new home owner i could be and like I stated above they are what makes the Veterans United Home Loan experience stand out among the rest.
10 Stars isn’t enough to say how great the team of Chris, Alexis, Kimberly and our realtor Victoria were doing the entire loan process!! They kept us informed all the way! Home buying is stressful, but this entire team made the process so much easier. I highly recommend this team! Thank you!
