Our whole Veterans United team did a great job to help us with any issues that arose. They kept us constantly informed on what the next steps were and made it easy to get everything done in a timely matter. We also loved the bonus house warming gift we received!

Overall it worked out. We got the house and information about the loan itself was well disclosed. The acquisition process however was one frustrating delay after another. A lot of requests for papers and documentation and then when I would submit them there would be secondary and follow up requests or just new documents requested that weren't listed before. It would have helped if everything needed was just stated up front and follow up information was wave 2. Additionally, some of the information needed was just ridiculous. Like I need a signed form from my boss explaining the difference in pay from earnings to actual wages of a few hundred dollars a month but on the same earning statement it shows the thousands of dollars a month that goes unrecorded for not long enough commissions history. The fact that I had to provide documented proof that I was able to receive gift funds to cover closing costs AFTER the gift payment had already been sent to title. Having to get new documents with the same information because it wasn't the right format. We ended up closing 2 weeks later than expected and it really killed us on the timeline because we had to completely move out in 2 days instead of 16. This could have been accounted for on our end but I kept getting stringed along with one last thing, one more signature, or one more document to submit. That left me thinking we would close in a day or two for two weeks.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Jordan,
I really appreciate you sharing your honest feedback. I know how stressful it can be when the process stretches out longer than expected and the document requests seem never-ending. That kind of back-and-forth can make it hard to plan your next steps, especially when you’re trying to time your move.
I’m glad to hear the loan details were clear and that things came together in the end, but I’m sorry the experience along the way felt frustrating. Your feedback about how we communicate what’s needed upfront is really valuable, and I’d like to share it with our team. If you’d be open to talking more about your file, please reach out to my folks at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. Our team is in the office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time.

Buying a house is stressful! The system they use made this as easy as one could hope for. I enjoyed the portal, the check list, and the easy communication from the entire team. From text messages to phone calls if I needed more education on what to do or why we are doing something. I was able to close quickly as well.

Working with Jeff and his team is always an easy and painless experience. Jeff makes every transaction as seamless, painless snd as raasy for me as possible. I look forward to the next time. Thank you Jeff

As first-time homebuyers, this process was entirely new to us. Our loan specialist and team were pretty great! The underwriting process went smoothly, and any necessary items were requested promptly through the portal. I would say the stress of waiting for your clear to close never really alleviates until you have your keys in hand. It was just a little over 30 days from when we found our home until we finally had the keys in hand! I can say with confidence that our team worked diligently to keep the process moving forward. There were a few lapses in communication among the many moving pieces and parties involved in the home-buying process, but once we ironed out the details, everyone worked tirelessly to get us across the finish line!

Everyone, from the loan team to the concierge, was absolutely amazing and the support they provided throughout was OUTSTANDING.

I used Veterans United to access the VA loan for my first home and did it across country on top of that. Veterans United provides a working team for you and an app that simplifies all the steps, processing, and paperwork involved in home buying. All things considered Veterans United made this home buying process as simple as it could be and has been such a great help to me. 10/10 would recommend. Just hope you get a good loan team and if not, I’m pretty sure you can request a new one. My team was amazing.
