My whole home buying experience was fantastic!! The whole team was patient, thorough, quick, and supportive. I couldn’t have asked for a better team!

I would not recommend Veterans United. I was told there would be no closing costs — that turned out to be false. I was also denied access to a lower home insurance rate unless I paid for a separate inspection or hired a certified contractor — which I couldn’t afford at the time. I was told this was a Florida-wide issue, but the very next day I was able to get insurance elsewhere, just at a higher price. No one at Veterans United could explain why I was blocked from the more affordable option they initially implied was available. When I brought up the closing costs I was promised, they claimed I must have misunderstood the VA funding fee waiver — which felt like an attempt to shift blame rather than take accountability. They also mentioned possible utility discounts early on, but no one I spoke to — including their own team — had ever heard of the program. Finally, when I asked about the home insurance issue, they claimed they don’t even offer insurance, despite having an entire section for it on their website.
These misleading claims were made while I was shopping for lenders. Once I committed, the story changed. As a veteran, I expected clarity, honesty, and support — not shifting explanations, empty promises, and frustration.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Nathan,
I’m really sorry to hear how disappointed you were with your experience. As a Veteran, you deserved clear and honest communication from the beginning—and it’s clear that what you were told early on didn’t line up with what happened later in the process. That’s incredibly frustrating, and I can understand why you feel misled.
Concerns about closing costs, insurance requirements, and other financial expectations shouldn’t come as surprises—especially when they influence your decision to move forward with a lender. If something we said gave the impression that those costs would be covered or waived, we should’ve clarified that long before closing day. And when you raised those concerns, you should’ve been met with real answers—not shifting explanations.
I’d really like my team to have the opportunity to dig into your loan file and better understand what was discussed, what was promised, and where we dropped the ball. You can reach us directly at 1-800-212-5200 or email ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We're available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, and I’ll make sure someone follows up with you if you reach out after hours.

Don and Josh were absolutely fantastic to work with. I faced several challenges for the first time and my team had my back every step of the way. The communication was on point, there was not an important detail never communicated. I would highly recommend them for anyone regardless of what type of loan they are applying for.

I would absolutely recommend Veterans United to anyone buying a home. Chris and Suzann were amazing with walking us through every step. This was a seamless transition from our old house to our new one!!

The process was great and the staff was knowledgeable and courteous. The team worked quickly to have the process done in a timely manner. I was able to close on my projected close date and begin the moving process.

Veterans United provided a great team to help me get my loan. I would highly recommend them to other veterans trying to buy a home. Their knowledge of everything VA related was superb.

Great team! Helps with every question and meets every need!

The team that worked with our family was extremely
extraordinary. Very knowledgeable, professional and highly skilled. They had our best interest every step of the way.
