I will never recommend this company to my family or friends. We built our home, which meant we had to deal with VU for the duration of the build. From start to close, it was 7 months of dealing with VU, and the experience was close to stellar until 2 weeks prior to closing. Not only were we stressed about the home, but an immediate family member of ours became very ill, causing us to ask VU to ensure everything would be turned in and completed on time. No delays please! At no point did we ask that our file be placed in front of anyone else's. We knew we would have to be patient. However, our loan officer forgot several items in our file, including not requesting an updated verification of employment, as it expires every 30 days. That oversight was not caught until our file went into the final underwriting review. The employer faxed it over, but our loan officer and/or his team failed to check the fax machine. The VOE sat there for hours. That caused a domino effect of at least a 48 hour delay in getting the home closed. At no point did VU or our loan officer treat our case with urgency, even though our family member went into hospice. If you want to be treated like "just another customer", then VU is for you. However, if you believe veterans deserve the best in receiving a mortgage, stay clear of this cattle call company that has "Veterans" in its name.
