I have used Veterans United twice. Both times we ran into issues. The first was mainly with the seller, so not much on the lender (Veterans United), but the closing for the second house was delayed nearly by two weeks in part because of this lender. I cannot recommend them as they produced numerous errors throughout the process. Thankfully, we caught them before anything came to money owed. Regardless, use a good agent who will fight for your interests.

Veterans United is AWESOME!! For the first timers don’t be scared, they will walk you every step of the way. I closed on my first home w/ a 2.5% interest rate in 2-3 months and Jake & the team made it so easy and smooth. Go Veterans United!!

Veterans united helped us from. Improving our credit. To closing on our home. Couldn't have done it without them.

Thanks to Jason and Brent Warnhoff for getting it done.

As a veteran I will recommend them to everyone.

Fantastic and friendly

I'd say that the home buying process with Veteran's United was actually pretty terrible being a first time home buyer. The lack of communication coming from VU was very poor, being the home buyer I had to call multiple times to get updates which most of the time my call wasn't answer after trying to reach multiple loan specialists and up until the day before closing they would reach out for documents at 3 pm the day before closing which had already been sent by my realtor. The quote that really pissed me off the most from Josh Kaplan when trying to get my VA loan approved was "Have you been to the VA?" when asking why it's taking so long. After I put an offer on the house, I was then asked for financials which I feel we should've had taken care of prior to getting pre-approval so that was frustrating trying to do a 30 day close and then was never told that I needed to pay for the appraisal by going online to the portal to pay for it, my realtor had to follow up multiple times with Josh, Brad or Matt just to get information because the flow was never to us it just never was that great and have to say going back to the Have you been to the VA comment still to this day pisses me off. Even when sending an email to Josh Kaplan for a waiver regarding appraisal there was no template offered, help in typing up a letter or anything of the such it was hey I need a letter so I then typed up a letter and hours go by and get a one line email saying it needs a signature. Like this is how you do business with customers? I will never get a home loan through this company ever again. Please make sure this is posted to the review page as I give this company 1 star for their customer service.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Joshua, I am sorry to hear about your experience and our client advocate team has already begun researching how we may have improved overall. In your initial communication we are using the information that we are provided through our communication and document collection, to be able to assist in your goal of going under contract on the home your have chosen. Verifications of that information provided (ie employment, income, statements etc) do not happen until after you have gone under contract. We are dedicated to making clear requests and assisting you with providing documentation that is necessary for loan approval. Providing effective communication is a top priority, and while we are digging into your concern, our Client Advocate team does remain available to discuss your experience in greater detail. Our hope is that your home serves you well and that our commitment to providing outstanding service will have a positive impact in the future.
I will recommend Jonathan and veterans united to other veterans friends and family...Jonathan and his team did a great job

Overall great experience. Steve was very helpful and was very responsive to questions and general help.My only complaint with the whole process and this is NOT a reflection on Steve is payout portion of my refinance. The process is not well explained on any level. I only found out that funds were dispersed through the title company after my closing. A guided explanation on what goes on would be a great idea to implement.
