Bottom line: Veterans United made a big scary decision for a first-time homebuyer a welcome breeze in an aggressive buying market.
The website is clean and easy to navigate. I did some research and decided to primarily focus on Veterans United. It was easy to get an initial quote and the communication and the helpfulness of the staff after that was top notch. Veterans United offered a highly competitive rate that maybe could have been matched by other lenders, but I ended up sticking with Veterans United because of how responsive and helpful they were throughout the entire process.
Rett Thompson, in particular, along with his team was fantastic. They were easy to reach and quick to respond. Rett would often answer my questions before I even asked them, and those I did ask were promptly answered by him or someone on his team. As a first-time homebuyer, the anxiety was initially high, but Rett and his team did all the heavy lifting and made my first-time home buying experience outstanding.

If I had to do it again, I would avoid Veterans United like the plague. The communication is the worst possible. People wouldn’t answer the phones or call me back. They won’t respond to emails for over a day. Dan was my loan officer and he would argue with me. He was rude and unprofessional. He doesn’t care about his customers at all.This company will make you question your choice of buying a home. I would’ve changed companies and forfeited all moneys spent if I wasn’t as close to close as I was. If you’re a veteran or a civilian, TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!
