We were very happy with our loan process, all our questions were answered! We are excited for our new home !

They went above and beyond is the way I feel. I had went to a local lender. They didn’t want to take the time for me, Veterans United really was there for a veteran.

I can thank the team Enough for making this whole process so simple and easy!

veterans united made my first purchase a walk in the park . I mean piece of cake! I had full trust and my team and was never left out during the whole process! I could have been blindfolded how smooth is was! Thanks you guys so much!

My wife and I were very excited in the beginning. Everyone from VU was great and friendly until there were bumps in the road, then VU went silent and we had to persist to get things moving. We were good to go regarding credit, then not, then good. Don’t lie up front! Underwriting was the worst we’ve ever dealt with (too many issues to list). Closing costs changed within 2 days increasing the cost by nearly $2k. Additionally, your loan origination fee of $3k+ is pretty dirty especially using the name Veteran’s United. If it wasn’t for my wife, we would’ve went with USAA for the loan. No origination fee plus, 1% lower interest. I will never recommend VU to anyone, especially veterans!!

I didn’t see a review space for Jennifer, but she was awesome as well. The entire team was a pleasure to work with, and my spouse and I had a great experience; and LOVE our new home!! Thank you all for a job well done and we are DEFINITELY using VU again, and recommending VU to our family and friends. Thank you all so much.

Marina Chiodini did not disclose information and terms of rate locks, extensions, etc. the way she should have. It seemed like I needed to ask everything to know anything. She said that she “assumed I knew since I am a real estate agent.” Marina did not mention that I couldn’t receive back more than I paid upfront until I asked specifically about that after we were supposed to close the first time. Poor communication. Horrible experience. I would not recommend working with her unless someone knows the lending process and can advocate for themselves. Also, a lot of lenders (every lender I spoke with other than VU) will not charge veterans origination fees. Shop around before going with VU.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Samantha,
I’m really sorry to hear about your experience with us, especially around such an important part of the homebuying process. It sounds like there was some confusion and a lack of clear communication about key details, and that’s not how we want any of our borrowers to feel. I can see how frustrating this must have been for you, especially since you’re already familiar with real estate and expected a more transparent process.
My advocate team would like to dig deeper into what happened here and see how we can improve. If you’re willing, please reach out to us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re in the office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, but we’ll get back to you as soon as possible if you contact us outside those hours.

My family and I are so thankful for Veterans United! They have made the home buying process, a breath fresh air. In every stage of the process, they have someone working with you to guide you the whole way who are very knowledgeable. They work with you and are very supporting. I had an awesome team and we are sincerely grateful!!! You’ll do yourself a disservice not choosing Veterans United. Plus, their rates beat everyone else!
