I was not prepared properly for closing. The ability to buy down points for a lower interest rate was never mentioned by the mortgage team. First time homebuyers need to be informed of all possible options for financing the loan prior to closing.
Response from Veterans United
Hey Stephenie,
I’m really sorry to hear this. First-time homebuyers put a lot of trust in us to guide them through every step, and it sounds like we didn’t fully deliver on that. Buying a home is a huge milestone, and you deserve to feel informed and confident—especially when it comes to important options like buying down points.
I’d really like our advocate team to learn more about what happened here so we can take a closer look. If you're open to it, would you mind reaching out to us? We’d love the chance to listen and see what we can do moving forward.
You can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re in the office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, but feel free to reach out anytime.
The only real trouble I had was the closing. I was supposed to close on Friday May 16th and was unable to do so. Someone dropped the ball and I don't know for sure who it was, but I think it may have been the title company. Then again, on the follow up closing date, probably the title company again, did not advise me that my wife had to be at the closing. My wife had already signed some documents online so I thought she was done with her part. Luckily, I called my wife at work and told her to come home right away and she was able to do so, thankfully, and we closed. I was not a happy camper that morning. I would suggest for future reference, even though I know that it's not the responsibility of the finance guys, but, I would just have them keep an eye out for married couples and remind them that they need to be at the closing table together. Just a suggestion.

We would recommend Nichole and would be happy to work with her again in the future

This is my second time buying a home but the first time using veterans united and I will always use veterans united in the future if I end up moving on. It was the easiest process using VU which was such a relief for me.They were there every step of the way to answer any questions, explain things multiple times if needed, lol. I cannot recommend them enough, it's the only way to go.

Everything was pretty much seamless. VU helped keep things on track and kept in touch as needed.

Dylan and the rest of the crew made the whole process so easy for us. Any time I was worried or stressed, Dylan was there to save the day!

The entire team did a fantastic job from beginning to end, our Buyer’s Agent, my wife and I were all so pleased with our first Home buying experience!

Great communication and very accommodating!

Adam has been my loan officer on three homes. Outstanding each time.

Overall, the Veterans United team is the way to go if you're going to purchase a house. The process is seamless and quick.
