Great experience and would highly recommend to any Veteran that qualifies to work with Veterans United for a all inclusive home buying process
The United team was able to help us get into a home in a timely matter. Helped us achieve independence from the renters market.
Everyone on my team was excellent! Every question or concern that I had was answered or dealt with in a timely manner. I could not have asked for a better team! Everyone was amazing and professional to work with. My home buying journey was not easy and I appreciate everyone that helped me through it. I would recommend Veterans United Home Loans to anybody.
Thank 😊 You for the well co-ornated effort. It is very appreciated.
Everyone on my team made the process super easy and I could not have asked for a better team to help me.
This was my first time using Veterans United during a home buying process. They streamlined the process so well that it was relatively effortless compared to others that we have been through.I’d go with them again with any purchase in the future!Thank you for your time & consideration! 🇺🇸
Sometimes for veterans there's a certain hopelessness, We are not able to receive the benefits that we deserve when we've layed our lives on the line for freedoms the whole country is privileged to. As a superpower, Only a small percentage of very special People volunteer to keep The Watch 24/7, 365 days a year, we are called the armed forces. Veterans United Recognizes our sacrifices, And they work with you, As well as work for you, To make home ownership tangible. They are dream workers, And if you are a veteran And renting, Obligate yourself to calling them or reaching out to them So that you can attain the dream.I can absolutely vouch for their Passion to help veterans, Active service members and retirees. I closed escrow on my home in Portland Oregon on August 06, 2019, From renter to owner in 32 days!!!
Extremely thankful to them and wish I could take this team for all my future homes! Would 100% recommend and already talking good on them when other coworkers ask me about veterans united. Extremely thankful.
Thank you to Veterans United for serving America's veterans. You are helping us realize the American dream.

It was a great experience with Veterans United. They did everything for me when I was on deployment. And completed closing when I returned. I definitely recommend Veterans United.
It’s my second time working with Veterans United and I will always recommend them and use them for home buying needs. They always go above and beyond and make you feel like you are their number one priority. You feel like you are their only customer. I appreciate all their hard work.
Outstanding!!
It was evident that my Veteran's United loan officer and team put forth an exceptional amount of effort to meet our needs and complete the deal. They were welcoming and supportive throughout the whole process.
I would not recommend Veterans United for buying a home. The initial process was great. Brian Nelson, my lender, was very helpful in the beginning. Answered calls, questions and called back when I left a voicemail. Then when it came to purchasing a home that is when the downfall began. I understand that a lot of paperwork is needed but I had to resubmitted so much of the same paperwork that it got ridiculous. Also, the lender and the loan coordinator do not speak with each other. Different information was being passed and no one was on the same page. As we got closer to the closing date I started to hear less and less from VU. The loan coordinator, Stephanie Sanders, did help where she could, but her help was limited. I am married but my husband is a non-purchasing spouse. Most of the paperwork needed was to be provided by my husband who is also in the military. They wanted eligibility to reenlist which I provided but they wanted a year out which was not what they initially asked for. He is getting out in less than a year, which I also told my lender months prior. So, they wanted a job offer which is literally impossible to do 6 months out. I told my lender to talk to my husband to get the information needed but I guess he took that as to just stop talking to me even though I am the sole person responsible for the loan. Calls were not being answered or returned. All communication with me ceased. The underwriting process was most of the issue especially in a community state. Getting a waiver for debt to income was a pain. I even hit up another lender and as soon as I did that the waiver was all of sudden approved. I got my final approval and closing was next which was another horror show. It’s like there’s no flexibility with them. I have a job and stand duty, as well as a husband out of state. The miscommunications continued and by closing you are at the mercy of lender and the title company. Honestly it felt like the lender didn’t know how to do his job or just didn’t like being told when he was wrong. The only good thing that came out of VU was my realtor, Jeff Hartnett. He is amazing and he had my back the entire time. He made sure that things were getting done when I wasn’t being heard. This process sucked and was super stressful for me but could’ve been worse without him. All in all, I will never recommend VU unless you are single, have no debts, have an 800-credit score, and have more than 2 years left in the military or are completely out of the military.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Lauren,
Thank you for taking time out of your day to share this information. I'm truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you faced during the homebuying process. It’s great to know that Brian Nelson was helpful initially, but I understand how frustrating it must have been when things started to fall apart down the line.
It sounds like the repeated paperwork requests and communication breakdowns added a lot of unnecessary stress. I'm especially sorry to hear about the challenges related to your husband’s military status and the miscommunications regarding his reenlistment and job offer. Your feedback about the lack of coordination and responsiveness from our team is very concerning.
I'm glad to hear that Jeff Hartnett was able to support you throughout this process, but I understand that this doesn’t make up for the overall negative experience you had with us.
We take feedback like yours seriously as it helps us identify areas where we need to improve. I want to look into what happened and see how we can address these issues. Could you please reach out to me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com? We're in the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but feel free to contact us anytime.
I shopped around but my VU team simply felt right.
