Best loan process I've ever had. Highly recommend to any veteran seeking a home loan

My experience with VU was mixed. My loan officer was transparent with the financial side of things and responsive to both my questions and concerns. My rate is good.My negatives include
- Forgot to include my down payment in closing disclosures so paperwork had to be reworked the morning of closing
- Loan officer did not communicate to concierge I was trying to move up closing so he made plans accordingly.
- The big one: I communicated to VU insurance my intent to go with a provider that required I send them my inspection. Before hanging up I said I will send it to them immediately. Two weeks later I reached out to try and move up closing and they said that was not possible as I had not sent in my insurance. Turns out it was in their spam folder. Regardless, if it is one week before closing and you were missing very important documentation I said I was going to send two weeks ago I would expect that to throw a red flag and for someone to reach out, but they did not. As a result I had to go with a higher cost insurance provider (which VU did pay for the increase) and could not move up closing. I had made a hotel reservation based upon moving up closing which VU said was doable and made work plans accordingly and had to rework all of them, which is not easy in the military. This left me scrambling one business day before when I thought I was closing to figure this out and had to pull for information about when I was actually closing.
- Additionally, when I had questions about why some documentation was blank and I was being asked to sign, I was told there are always errors but they will get worked out eventually. That did not make me feel comfortable. In short, if you just want a good rate and are willing to push to get everything done on time, VU is probably fine. But if you do not know this process well enough to drive it yourself, looks elsewhere.
Response from Veterans United
Riley,
I’m sorry about the issues you ran into that seem to center around communication and attention-to-detail. You’re right and I appreciate you sharing this valuable feedback with us. We try our hardest to make your homebuying experience exceptional but we’re well aware things don’t always end up that way. When they don’t, your feedback tells us what went wrong so we can make it better and follow up as necessary. Our Client Advocate team is and continues to be here for you.
Sincerely,
Kendra, Client Relations

David, Logan, and Meili were all amazing during this whole process, I am glad I was able to work with them while buying our home... I cannot thank them enough for all the hard work and effort they put in for me!

Just an outstanding process from start to finish. This is my third home purchase, and by far the best! Thanks to the entire team.
