I am not recommending Veterans United as a lender. Having gone through this nightmare, I would definitely have chosen one of the other two lenders that I had applications with. If you are considering buying a vacation or second home, be aware that their underwriting considers it an investment property if you rent it just one time. The rates are higher as well as the closing costs. To me it’s just a way for them to make more money but they will argue that. Communication was slow and we were stressed throughout the process. Being a 15 year military veteran didn’t seem like it made any difference.

VU is a good way to go if your using va loan. Its a good company. They find an excellent local relator that is knowledgable. VU explains the process going through and they keep intouch making sure everything is ok. They show that they actually care.

Perhaps your underwriting is comparable to others, wherein I’d have experienced similar had I gone somewhere else. But that’s not the same experience I recently had in January. No the same amount of loan value either but still.But I’ve vowed I will never go through this kind of process again. Never.I may be wrong in this but if there is a next time, my chosen lender will detail the process in advance before I begin the process. I play Monopoly by the established rules and don’t like it when players seek to change or insert new rules amid game.
