A suggestion would be to limit the time that the unfreezing of credit bureau accounts occur - for as short of duration as possible. Our credit was unfrozen, subsequently hacked and attempts at identity theft made. Fortunately our being vigilant minimized the damage, but resulted in the time-consuming task of redoing our accounts (60+), closing email and resolving privacy issues. It was a costly visit to Best Buy to clean out malware and add security to our computer and phone - not to mention the cost of time and emotional distress. Our accounts had been frozen until reopened in June and attack occurred in July - beginning on the 15th. Potential VU customers should be aware of this risk, as with anyone who opens up their credit/unfreezes their social security number, whether VU customers or not. Staying vigilant and keeping your accounts with credit bureaus open for as short of duration as possible is critical!
