The team we worked with at Veterans United did a great job of walking us through the process and understanding everything along the way, which helped us feel more empowered along the way as we made important financial decisions. I would say that I was very clear regarding being a first time home buyer and that I did not really have a lot of knowledge of the process. I do wish that closing costs had come up in the initial pre-approval conversation with Veteran's United. Also, it would be better if the estimated closing costs would have been closer to the mark, as they were a source of real tension in my household when they jumped nearly $3000 from the initial estimate to the latter stage estimate. They did come back down for closing, but that sudden high closing estimate was stressful.
