Great team and very professional. I was surprised how they have the ability to make sense of all the mess and made it make sense to me. Outstanding customer service!
We cannot thank Austin F. and his amazing team at Veterans United Home Loans enough for helping our family purchase our first home. From start to finish, the professionalism, dedication, and hard work they displayed were truly outstanding.Austin and his team went above and beyond, working long hours to ensure everything stayed on track and that we fully understood every step of the process. Their knowledge and expertise helped us save money while still getting the home we truly wanted for our family. No question ever went unanswered, and they always responded with patience, honesty, and clear communication. What could have been a stressful experience turned into a smooth and exciting journey because of how easy they were to work with. We are incredibly grateful for their support, guidance, and commitment throughout this entire process. If you are looking for a loan officer and team that genuinely care about their clients, we highly recommend Austin F. and the Veterans United team.
Never felt like I had any control in this transaction. You can call and you can email but they only answer when they want to. Every time they told me they had worked something out, the confirmation came in with additional charges or an unacceptable adjustment. You will NEVER talk to anyone who can make and keep a commitment other than to do their best. Got an initial approval for up to $700k so I used the letter to make an offer with earnest money and $132k down = i needed $528k loan and was offered 5.625 with no points. OOPS! No can do G.I.. Your 1.5 million in assets don't count, just your Social Security less alimony so you can't possibly afford anything. So they "worked something out" if I could come up with an additional $34k down to make the loan for $497k. Closing disclosure (without any call or guidance) shows I also forfeited $1k credit because the loan was now below 500k and there were now 2k in points to get the 5.625 rate. At one point the loan was put on hold because "I didn't have sufficient cash to meet closing costs". That day I had $220k in an account available in 24 hours and an IRA with over 800K. I not only would not recommend these folks, I think they should be removed from processing VA loans.
Response from Veterans United
Hey Richard,
I'm sorry to hear how frustrating and disappointing this experience was for you. From your perspective, it sounds like expectations changed multiple times throughout the process, and that left you feeling like you didn't have clear answers or control over what was happening with your loan.
I can understand how upsetting it would be to make decisions based on information you believed was settled, only to later learn that additional funds, costs, or adjustments were needed. It's also concerning to hear that you felt communication was inconsistent and that your questions weren't fully addressed along the way.
While loan qualification and lending requirements can sometimes change as additional documentation is reviewed, you should still feel informed and supported throughout the process. I'm sorry that wasn't your experience.
I'd appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and review the concerns you've shared. If you're willing, please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. The Client Advocate team is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and messages received outside those hours are typically responded to the next business day.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
