We were afraid to get a veterans home loan because of everything we heard. We are very happy we decided to find out for ourselves. They do make the process as painless as possible, there are not as many restrictions as we thought, they just want to make sure your home is safe for you and your family. had a very disappointing experience working with this team. Communication was consistently poor—we had to repeatedly follow up just to receive basic updates, and we never felt like a priority.Kendal and Donna were often unprofessional and dismissive. On multiple occasions, they emphasized how busy they were or mentioned upcoming vacations, which only reinforced the lack of attention given to our file. Most concerning, Donna accidentally included me on an email where she was making fun of me, which was completely inappropriate and unacceptable.Additionally, the appraisal process was handled extremely poorly. The report contained numerous errors—over eight corrections were needed—including incorrect names and inaccurate information. This significantly delayed the process and added unnecessary stress.Overall, this was a frustrating and unprofessional experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this team and will not be using them again.

Phil Smyser is exceptional. He took the time to understand our unique situation and FOUGHT for us!!! Simply put we got in a bind because of another mortgage services misinformation and PHIL swept in and saved the day. HE IS AMAZING, Veterans United is amazing. I especially love the level of integration on the web site and app. You can simply enter in your info and viola your income, addresses, employment history is all imported in and verified.
It was the best choice we made to apply and move forward with VU. The whole process was done online, easy, and so efficient. They are very professional and will treat their costumers with the outmost respect. If you are a Veteran and still thinking about a lender, don't. VU is the best.
The process as a whole really sucks but I imagine it could've sucked more without Ryan and Cara.
Veteran’s United made the home buying process quick and pain-free. Tyler, our Loan Officer, was vigilant during the entire process and ensured we made it to closing on time. This was our first time using Veteran’s United, but fifth home purchase. Hopefully we won’t be moving again, but if we do I’ll be using Veteran’s United for our next purchase.
Carla with veterans United helped us to understand what we needed to do with our credit to qualify for a mortgage. She gave us direction and checked in on us periodically to see how we were progressing. She notified us as soon as our credit score had reached the threshold for approval. The next day Andrew Beckett and his team contacted us and we started the loan process. Andrew, Selena and his entire team were always on point, willing to help and kept us focused and on track. We started out 2026 still wondering if find a home was in our future and May 1 we are now in our new home! Veterans United gave us top-notch service from beginning to end!

Anne Kuster and her team were great. We had constant communication, updates, and follow-ups. Our close got through ahead of time and all aspects were well coordinated. Anytime she was going to be out she left us at least two other people to contact as backups.
